Overview & Benefits

North Carolina General Contractors Continuing Education Courses

Beginning with 2021 license renewals, North Carolina licensed contractors are required to complete continuing education (CE) to renew their licenses. The CE year begins on January 1 and ends on November 30 of each year. CE may not be completed during the month of December.

To qualify for renewal, licensed contractors must complete eight (8) hours of continuing education, including:

  • A two-hour course produced by the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, focusing on recent changes in laws and regulations that may affect licensed contractors.
  • The remaining six hours of required CE may be fulfilled by completing elective courses from NCLBGC-approved outside providers, such as Contractor Training Center.
