We offer everything you need to prepare for the Utah Contractors Business Law Exam, required for all Utah Contractor license applicants.

To prepare for the Utah Business Law Exam, you will need the required reference manual and tabs as well as our exam prep course. We also give the option to purchase a pre-tabbed and highlighted reference manual, saving you valuable hours of highlighting the information within the book yourself.

The Utah Contractor Business and Law Examination is required for the following applicants: 

This exam is required for the following Utah Contractor classifications

  • E-100 General Engineering Qualifier
  • B-100 General Building Qualifier
  • R-100 Residential/Small Commercial Qualifier
  • E-200 General Electrical Contractor (Master Electrician qualifier must take the business and law exam) ▪ E-201 Residential Electrical Contractor (Master Electrician or Residential Master Electrician qualifier must take the business and law exam)
  • P-200 General Plumbing Contractor (Master Plumber qualifier must take the business and law exam)
  • P-201 Residential Plumbing Contractor (Master Plumber or Residential Master Plumber qualifier must take the business and law exam)

You must pass this examination in addition to passing your trade-specific examination.

Applicants are required to pass the business and law exam as well as a technical exam before submitting a license application to the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.

Upon completion of all licensure requirements, including passing the examination, submit a completed application for licensure to:

Steps to obtaining your license

Utah contractor applicants are required to take and pass both a business law exam and a technical exam. We offer exam prep courses and materials for the National NASCLA exam, accepted by Utah and 15 other states as a technical contractor licensing exam. You can see more about the NASCLA exam here.
