How to Prepare for the National Standard Residential Building Contractor C (ICC F13) Exam

The National Standard Residential Building Contractor C (ICC F13) Exam is a four-hour, 80-question, open book test of your knowledge of residential building practices and procedures, including:  

  • Permits and General Regulations 
  • Building Planning and Life Safety 
  • Structural Systems 
  • Building Envelope 

A passing score is 70% or higher. Effective preparation involves review of the study materials provided, as well as relevant national building codes and standards. How to Get Your National Standard Residential Building Contractor C (ICC F13) Certification

To schedule your National Standard Residential Building Contractor C (ICC F13) Certification exam: 

  • Register with ICC by visiting my.iccsafe.org/register 
  • Submit your application and the $115.00 registration fee. 
  • Register with Pearson Vue and schedule your exam. 
  • Pass the four-hour, open-book test consisting of 80 questions. A 70% score is required to pass.
