The ICC G16 Master Electrician Exam gives you 5 hours to answer 100 questions that cover aspects of construction and contracting in a multiple-choice, open-book format. You need at least 70% correct to pass.

How to Prepare for the National Standard Master Electrician (ICC G16) Exam

The National Standard Master Electrician Exam is a test of your knowledge of electrical codes, devices, systems, and methods, covering such topics as:

It is a five-hour, open book exam consisting of 100 questions. 

To pass the exam, you score 70% or higher. Effective preparation involves a thorough review of the study materials provided and relevant national electrical codes and standards. How to Get Your ICC National Standard Master Electrician (ICC G16) Certification

To schedule your National Standard Master Electrician (ICC G16) Exam, you'll need to: 

  • Register with ICC by visiting my.iccsafe.org/register 
  • Submit your application and the $115.00 registration fee. 
  • Register with Pearson Vue and schedule your exam. 
  • Pass the five-hour, open-book test consisting of 100 questions. A 70% score is required to pass.Â
