About the Tennessee BC-A, B (Sm) Combined Residential/Light Commercial Contractor License:

  • BC-A (Residential) covers the construction, remodeling, repair, or improvement of one, two, three, or four-unit residences not exceeding three stories in height and accessory use structures in connection to such residences.   
  • BC-b (Small commercial) covers construction, erection, alteration, repair or demolition of any building or structure for use and occupancy by the public, the total cost of which does not exceed $1,500,000. (Note: to obtain a monetary limit increase requires passing the full BC-B commercial trade exam and providing a revised financial statement)
