Virginia Class A/B Exam Prep Courses & Reference Materials

We offer everything you need to prepare for the Virginia Contractors Class A/B Business Law exams!

The Class A/B Exam is a 2- or 3-part exam that covers legal, financial, and business regulations for Contractors in the state of Virginia. Class A license applicants are required to take and pass all three parts of the exam: the Virginia, General, and Advanced portions. Class B license applicants are required to take and pass the Virginia and General exams; the Advanced exam is optional. Note: Class C contractor applicants do not need to take the Class A/B exams.

This exam is to be taken by the designated employee or member of responsible management of the entity applying for licensure. There is an additional 8-hour Pre-License Course requirement for all Virginia Contractors: Classes A, B, and C. The same person who takes the Pre-License course must be the same person who takes the Class A/B license exam.

VIRGINIA PORTION, 24 Items; Passing Score: 18 correct questions (75%)

48 minutes are allowed to complete this portion.

GENERAL PORTION, 50 Items; Passing Score: 35 correct questions (70%)

100 minutes are allowed to complete this portion.

All Virginia Contractor Applicants are required to meet other state licensing regulations in order to obtain a license. This includes taking a mandatory 8-Hour Pre-License Course before applying for licensure as well as submitting a license application.
