Contractor License Options

What Virginia Contractor’s License is right for you?

NASCLA Accredited License: The NASCLA Accredited exam is recognized for commercial contracting in multiple states, including Virginia for a CBC license. The NASCLA Examination Program helps you avoid taking multiple state exams if you wish to get licensed in multiple jurisdictions. In addition, once you take an NASCLA Exam, you can apply to other accepting states for the corresponding license without taking their state licensing exam. 

Virginia Residential Building Contractor License: Virginia Residential Building Contractors may perform work on contracts that include construction, remodeling, repair, improvement, removal, or demolition on real property owned, controlled, or leased by another person of dwellings and townhouses, as defined in the USBC, including accessory buildings or structures on such property. 

Virginia Commercial Building Contractor License: Virginia Commercial Building Contractors may perform work on contracts that include construction, remodeling, repair, improvement, removal, or demolition on real property owned, controlled, or leased by another person of commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental, and accessory use buildings or structures.  

Virginia Home Improvement Contractor Classification: Virginia Home Improvement (HIC) Contractors may perform repairs or improvements to dwellings and townhouses as defined in the USBC or structures annexed to those dwellings or townhouses as defined in the USBC.   

Virginia Commercial Improvement Contractor Classification: Virginia CIC Contractors may perform repairs or improvements to structures not defined as dwellings and townhouses in the USBC. We offer everything you need to prepare for and pass this exam!
