A Virginia Highway Heavy (H/H) Contractor's License applies to individuals whose contracts include construction, repair, improvement, or demolition of the following: Bridges Railroads, Dams Roads, Drainage systems Runways, Foundations Streets, Parking lots Structural signs & lights, Public transit systems, and tanks. This license includes the following specialties, and they are not required to be listed separately on your contractor license:
Asphalt Paving and Sealcoating Contracting (PAV)
Billboard/Sign Contracting (BSC)
Concrete Contracting (CEM)
Landscape Irrigation Contracting (ISC)
Marine Facility Contracting (MCC)
Vessel Construction Contracting (VCC)

Our Virginia Highway Heavy Exam Prep Course is available in three options: live in-person, live-streamed via webinar, and online pre-recorded. Live courses are held every second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm ET. Other Licensing Requirements
All Virginia Contractor Applicants are still required to meet other state licensing regulations in order to obtain a license. All applicants must complete the Mandatory 8-Hour Pre-License Course and submit a license application to DPOR. Class A and Class B Applicants must also take and pass a business law exam before submitting a license application to DPOR.
