What's on the North Carolina Restricted Limited Plumbing (RLP) Exam?

Restricted Limited Plumbing is intended for specific limited-scope work involving qualifying exterior water and sewer services, certain backflow work, and water filtration activities. It is not a general plumbing contractor license. North Carolina contractor applicants in this classification take two PSI examinations: a technical exam and a separate Business and Law exam (50 questions, 90 minutes, passing score 70). Both are covered by the same CTC online course and combined book set. Exam preparation areas include: Applicable exterior water and sewer service provisions; relevant backflow and filtration requirements; plumbing and residential code navigation; and administrative provisions and Board laws.
