In Virginia, an NRS specialty (New Residential Structure designation) authorizes a licensed Virginia Home Inspector to conduct home inspections on any new residential structure. Before applying for the NRS specialty designation, a licensed Home Inspector must complete an approved pre-license education course.

This course offers 8 hours of pre-license education and is approved by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) for NRS license designation applicants.

To complete this course, you do not need to read books or other materials. All information is shared digitally, and no hard-copy materials are required.

This is an online, self-paced course that can be completed at any time. This course takes eight hours to complete. You may complete this course in a single session or complete any part of the course, pausing your progress to resume at a later time.

Once completed, you will be issued a certificate of completion and records will be submitted to DPOR for verification.
